I would like for you to write down your qualities and evidence. Here is an example:

The Power of Personal Branding

What comes to mind when I mention these names?
-Louis Vuitton
-McDonalds
-Abrecrombie and Fitch
-Donald Trump

Immediately you picture and associate the Brand Identity with the person or a company with these names.
You can picture Louis Vuitton's LV logos.
You can see McDonald's logo and burgers
Abercrombie and Fitch shows you that they are all about sexy and good looking people and that's what you picture when you hear the name.
When hearing Donald Trump's name you automatically associate his name with real estate and wealth

Now ask yourself – what do people associate my name with? Find out what you're good at. If you are a a painter and have a specific style, try to use a small but recognizable element that people will recognize every time they see your paintings. When they hear your name, they will think about your signature style. Use the latest social media to promote yourself, donate 10% or more of the sales to  charity to have people buy your work at the same time do something kind. When using social media, make sure you use the same colors and picture ( or logo ) on every platform. It's important to have a consistent brand which you go by and represents you.
Build your personal brand on social media platforms. Do not be afraid to be different, do something exciting and special.
Behind every brand identity there is a strategy. Figure out your own strategy for your Personal Brand identity.
Consistency is crucial. Once you've defined your brand, keep it in the public eye as much as possible, be in the center of attention, interact with people that follow you on twitter and facebook etc.
You will continue to stand out, be successful and powerful.  Make sure you always fill out all the necessary information . If your pages are incomplete or empty, you will not be able to achieve a successful  Personal Brand Reputation.

On Oxendo you have the chance to start building your Personal Brand from the start, or refresh what you have created before by using the latest tools and color schemes to fit your Personal Brand, Your Identity, You.

The ultimate CV template for your personal brand

Do you hate working on your CV? Keeping all rules and standards can be complicated and time consuming.
Most of you already created multiple CV’s just by joining networks such as LinkedIn or Xing. So why do it all over again?
In addition most CV-standards are not up-to-date anymore. Nowadays a good CV should include  links to your social media profiles and published work on the web.
Since a CV is an important part of your personal brand you should be able to decide which colors and structure fits your brand best.
While working on our new Personal Branding/Employer Branding network Oxendo.com we asked ourselves how we could solve these problems when creating a CV online.
Our answer is a CV – automatically generated with the information you provide on Oxendo. On Oxendo you can select relevant (for your personal brand) modules and structure of your CV. Additionally you are able to choose design, layout and colors in order to create a visual identity for your brand!

How to create a perfect CV

While looking for the perfect CV -design-tools for OXENDO (www.oxendo.com) I found this interesting article in Spotlight magazine about things to consider when creating a CV.  The article does not only feature tips on format and style, but also what HR managers may read between the lines...

You are looking for a job, but so is everyone else. You might be the best candidate, but will your next employer know that? Before you are invited to a job interview, your CV will have to make a good first impression. Many large companies in Europe now use English as a working language, so its important to have your CV ready in English. This is also an opportunity to show that you have intercultural skills that may be critical to getting the joy you want.
As much as your CV says in black and white, it says just much between the lines. It offers clues about the kind of person you are, what your priorities are and how conscientiously you work.
Probably the most important thing to bear in mind when writing your CV is that it will be read by another person. This could be someone with whom you`ll be working closely; your boss at a small to medium-sized company; or it could be someone in a position of power, such as the head of the personnel department. Whoever that person is, he or she will decide whether or not you get invited to a job interview.
For that person, time is money: you may have only 15 seconds to make an impression. Here is how to do it.
1.    Do your homework: Find out about the company you are contacting and write your CV specifically for the job you want at that company. One tailored CV sent to five companies will get you further than a generic sounding CV sent to a hundred-
2.    Make your CV readable: Choose a font that is large enough, wired enough and not too decorative. Use generous margins. Put enough space between different elements. Fit everything on one or, at most, two pages.
3.    Remember that less is more: The reader must be able to find key information immediately. Choose the three things that best qualify you for the job, and emphasize them in your personal profile. (This point refers to the CV-options on Oxendo. Oxendo gives you the opportunity to create 3 keywords, so that you can be found by them on our system, as well as on all search engines)
4.    Avoid clichés: and vague language. Everyone claims to be highly motivated and hard-working. So don`t just say you are; prove you are. Your achievements, as listed in your CV and supporting documents, should leave no doubt.
5.    Write for you reader, not for yourself. John F. Kennedy said: “ask not what your company can do for you; ask what you can do for your company”. Employers don’t care that you are seeking new challenges, they want to know whether you can communicate, are good with figures and have ideas.
6.    Make the reader curious and eager to get to know you. What hidden skills do you have, whether relevant to the job or not, that will make you stand out from all the candidates? When the 100 applicants are reduced to five, you will be remembered as the man who cooks for homeless people or the woman who is lived in China. Such qualities show that you take the initiative, are a team player and finish what you start. Are you a worker or an asset? That’s the question that’s answered between the lines.

The need for Employer Branding 2.0 - Recruiter

By Wolfgang Brickwedde

Employment Branding 1.0 was a monologue. Companies sent out communication and assumed control about the message and the perceiption.

Employment Branding 2.0 is a all about conversation. And the conversation is sometimes happening real time with smart organizations participating proactively to create connections, conversations, and relationships to begin building a sustainable talent advantage. Your employer brand is no longer just what you say about you. Its what everyone says about you. And what everyone says travels fast.

Employer Branding as most important strategy in fight for talents

A survey by Personnel Today reveals that HR managers believes branding is vital if an organisation is to recruit the best candidates.
In the war for talent, HR professionals are not being equipped with one of the most important weapons in the recruitment armoury – employer branding.
brandfigc-17may05.gifBrandfigb-17may05.gif
An exclusive survey of 1,889 Personnel Today readers with responsibility for recruitment reveals that 95% of respondents believe employer branding is ‘important’ (Fig. A), with 80% saying that it will become even more so (Fig. B). And yet only 25% of those surveyed have responsibility for employer branding.
Brandfiga-17may05.gif

Many senior HR professionals said they were trying to make their organisation an ‘employer of choice’ in the face of low unemployment and skills shortages.
One said: “There is so much competition for good candidates, those with a good employer brand will be able to pick and choose from the best candidates.” And another added: “People are becoming more inclined to look for roles where the organisation’s values are aligned with their own.”
Recruitment remains the preserve of the HR department. Indeed, the number of people in HR with responsibility for recruiting is increasing.

Employer Branding in social media networks can be rudimentary found on Facebook and LinkedIn, but in the "war for talent" companies are in need to create their brand online in new ways and with more freedom of scope. OXENDO offers companies the right tools to present and monitor their brands with new applications.
We will launch the beta version of OXENDO on the 26th of August. Please feel free to contact me on Twitter/LinkedIn or leave a comment! http://www.oxendo.com/

The perfect launch of your personal brand

If you want to speed up the process of creating personal brand equity, become addicted to:
1) being intentional &
2) changing habits

Being intentional:
A lot of people think that once they choose their brand, the rest automatically takes care of itself. This mindset has no application in the world of personal branding, where only doers excel.
If we want to leave the competition behind, we must be more intentional than they are when it comes to every detail of our personal brand. But what is intentionality? One example – if you are preparing for a meeting ask yourself – what do I hope to achieve in this meeting – what do I want to achieve with my presentation? Intentionality is not just having a great idea – it is also to pursue and implement that idea (before having a new one).
DEFINE THE OUTCOME and pursue it with preparation and implementation!!

Change:
Habits, communication style, attitude, etc. – there are many things we can work on. Once we took care of those personal changes, we should move on to supporting props like:
-    Websites & broschures (as mentioned we are working on a professional branding & carreer platform, which will allow its members to perfectly create a brand for themselves – for more questions about that, please leave a comment or contact me directly!!)
-    Office space
-    Systems improvements
Another effective tool is a 15-second commercial. How many times are we asked about what we do for a living. Make sure to create an answer which is different and interesting.

Talent matters less than perception does

It is controversial, but in my opinion a great personal brand & average talent BEATS great talent & an average personal brand.
Lets use an easy example. There are thousands of good lawyers and marketing experts in this country some of them offering similar services. Even though the marketplace has shifted from the sale of products to the sale of services in the last ten years (the amount of service sector jobs is still increasing...) the customers purchasing strategy remains the same!! Which means buyers still need to SEE something in order to help them validate their purchasing decisions. SOMETHING must replace the tangible product. That SOMETHING is a PERSONAL BRAND.
Like it or not, most of the success of the lawyers or marketing experts comes down to a little more than a popularity contest. The person with the most likeable personal brand wins. In order for the individual to be comfortable making a commitment, he needs to see something to which he can come emotionally attached. And quality is not nearly as important as the PERCEPTION OF QUALITY. Just look at the famous Pepsi - Coca Cola tast tests in which Pepsi beats Coca Cola on a yearly basis. The message is clear - it doesnt matter who really is the best; what matters is who the people perceive to be the best!!

The Honeyed Bear Trap

The Bear hunter does not chase his prey; a bear that knows it is hunted is nearly impossible to catch and is ferocious if cornered. Instead the hunter lays traps baited with honey. He does not exhaust himself and risk his life in pursuit. He baits, then waits.

The point of this is: Do not go hunting and begging for people to use your services. Simply come up with a special interest that can catch your target's attention. Then wait until they can explore, raise their interest and then they will come to you. When forcefully attacking your target, they will turn away and run fast.

When we go shopping we all try to avoid sales personal asking us "can I help you?" "are you looking for something in particular?" The moment those words come out of their mouth you start getting annoyed and simply want to leave. Because they just want to sell you the product. They don't let you walk around and explore on your own a bit and see what can catch your interest. When you are interested in something, you will go looking for THEM all over the store. Same with your business. The moment you push, their interest suddenly disappears. It's more personal when they get to know you first, sniff around, get familiar with you, when they can trust you they will come to you willingly - as the bear trusted the honey's trap, walking straight into it himself because it was familiar.

How to create attention to your business

Here is something you can think about before you would want to start your business.
You are the package people look at and fancy first, before they open to see what's inside. If the package is not appealing people will most likely just leave it with out having the urge to see what is inside it. When using self marketing, you are using attraction marketing to you and your business.
When it comes to people, they are in the world of saturated marketing. Between all the travel advertisements and special fat burners, there is just no more room for a new Business Pitch. The secret IS to Brand yourself first, attract people to yourself as an individual. No one is interested in simply your business pitch, they want to know WHO YOU ARE!!! Show everyone that you know what you are doing and talking about, show that you are a leader, someone who can help others and show the ropes. Everyone is only looking for "what's in it for me" Show them that you can and will accomplish their goals. Only THEN people will take interest in finding out more about your primary business. People will first join YOU! then they will follow your business. That's why Self Branding is the most important check on your "How to start a new business" list or to add to your business improvement plans.
